Rose Fulfillment – Board Member Job Description
Position Overview
The Board of Directors provides strategic leadership, governance, and oversight to advance Rose Fulfillment’s mission of supporting families and seniors facing housing insecurity. Board members serve as ambassadors for the organization, ensure compliance and accountability, and contribute their expertise to guide long-term sustainability and impact.
Key Responsibilities
🧭 Governance & Leadership
- Provide strategic direction and oversight of the organization’s programs and long-term initiatives.
- Review and approve budgets, bylaws, policies, and major decisions.
- Ensure the organization operates ethically and complies with legal, financial, and nonprofit standards.
- Participate in annual reviews of the Executive Director and organizational evaluation.
💬 Board Participation
Attend and actively participate in scheduled board meetings (typically 4–6 per year).Serve on committees or task forces as needed (e.g., finance, fundraising, programs).Prepare for meetings by reviewing materials in advance.Support board development and succession planning.🤝 Advocacy & Representation
Act as an ambassador of Rose Fulfillment in the community.Promote the mission, values, and programs to stakeholders, donors, and potential partners.Leverage networks to expand organizational visibility and influence.💵 Fundraising & Resource Development
Support Rose Fulfillment’s fundraising efforts through relationships, sponsorships, donations, and events.Participate in the “Give or Get” commitment annually (financial contribution or secured sponsorship / in-kind donations).Identify grant opportunities, funding partnerships, or program collaborations.🔐 Fiduciary & Legal Responsibility
Protect the financial and ethical integrity of the organization.Review and approve financial reports and budgets.Uphold confidentiality, integrity, and accountability.👥 Mission & Community Alignment
Ensure organizational priorities reflect the needs of families and seniors facing housing insecurity.Support initiatives related to community engagement, program development, and long-term planning.Maintain awareness of local challenges and help shape responsive solutions.Preferred Qualifications
Experience in nonprofit leadership, real estate / housing, finance, legal, fundraising, program development, social services, or community advocacyDemonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and community empowermentStrong leadership, communication, and collaboration skillsConnections to relevant networks or industries preferredTerm of Service
Initial term : 2 years , renewable by board voteExpected commitment : Approximately 3–5 hours per month , including meetings, planning, and eventsAttend occasional community events or strategic sessions as neededBoard Commitment
