Overview

Southwest Coalition, Inc., encompassing Guiding Star Southwest LLC, seeks a dedicated Medical Collaborating Physician to volunteer their expertise for women in the Borderland areas of El Paso, Texas, Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Juarez, Mexico. Affiliated with Guiding Star Project, we empower women through education, healthcare solutions, and community support, aligning with Catholic and Biblical teaching. The ideal candidate is a seasoned medical professional, potentially specializing in OBGYN or Family Practice, eager to contribute to dignified, holistic care.

The Opportunity

With over 20 years of pregnancy help services, we are expanding to include a freestanding nonprofit birth center in El Paso, Texas. We seek a Medical Collaborating Physician to volunteer alongside our teams, providing expertise in fertility care, prenatal care, labor, delivery, and postpartum care. The successful candidate will commit to top-quality holistic care and education, integrating mind, body, and spirit.

  • What the Role Entails

    The Medical Collaborating Physician will be tasked with various performance objectives, including :

  • Collaborate respectfully with a team of medical professionals, RNs, birth assistants, IBCLCs, and office staff.
  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based care for women and families.
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests; prescribe treatments.
  • Support prenatal, labor and childbirth, postpartum, and newborn care in a community birth setting.
  • Monitor health of expectant mothers and infants.
  • Maintain detailed medical records in the EHR and prepare comprehensive reports for referring physicians.
  • Uphold foundational principles per Personnel Policies and Conflict Resolution Agreement.
  • Counsel and educate patients on natural reproductive health and fertility-awareness methods.
  • Perform administrative duties such as taking histories, scheduling, and processing payments.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and education sessions; perform other duties as assigned.

  • Comfortable in a God-centered environment with reverence for life from conception to natural death
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; self-motivated, detail-oriented, able to work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of pregnancy, abortion, and related health issues; strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • High integrity; humble, confident, hardworking, and patient
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative leadership skills
  • Prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate
  • Proficient with Google Workspace, Asana, time clocks, Slack, and related technologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with patients and professionals
  • 2+ years of medical practice experience preferred
  • Language : English required; Spanish preferred
  • Ability to walk, stand, drive, and sit for long periods
  • Proficient at data entry
  • Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds
  • Valid medical license in Texas required; New Mexico licensure also preferred
  • Ability to commute to El Paso, TX 79902 and Las Cruces, NM 88011
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable vehicle
