Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Metrologist to support precision measurement, inspection, and quality validation activities within a high-mix manufacturing and assembly environment. This role is hands-on and lab-based, with strong emphasis on CMM programming, optical measurement systems, and dimensional inspection of plastic and mechanical components used in complex assemblies.
The ideal candidate is comfortable supporting First Article Inspections (FAI), New Product Introduction (NPI), capability studies, and root-cause investigations, and works closely with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to ensure product conformance.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, operate, and maintain Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to perform accurate and repeatable dimensional inspections of components and assemblies
- Create and complete First Article Inspection (FAI) packages, Technical Validation Reports (TVRs), and supporting measurement documentation
- Develop measurement illustrations, inspection plans, and data reports to support production and engineering requirements
- Perform capability studies, GR&R studies, and PPM analysis to evaluate measurement system and process performance
Conduct precision measurements using a range of equipment, including : CMM systems
Vision / optical measurement systems (e.g., Micro-Vu or equivalent)
Calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, and Go / No-Go gauges
Collect, analyze, and report inspection data; identify trends and potential non-conformancesTroubleshoot measurement discrepancies and support root cause analysis and corrective action activitiesAssist with NPI efforts, including setup, programming, validation, and calibration of new measurement equipmentPrepare technical deviation or non-conformance documentation when requiredInterpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements; support training of quality personnel on blueprint reading and tolerancesMaintain metrology lab standards, calibration schedules, and safety proceduresRequired Qualifications
3–5+ years of experience in a metrology, quality inspection, or CMM programming roleHands-on experience programming and operating CMM equipmentStrong working knowledge of precision measurement tools and dimensional inspection techniquesProficiency interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T symbolsFamiliarity with ISO 9001 / AS 9100 quality systems; exposure to ISO / IEC 17025 is a plusStrong mathematical aptitude and attention to detailAbility to work effectively with small, tight-tolerance parts in an assembly-driven environmentEducation & Certifications
