Summary :
Drive tractor / trailer combination with capacity of up to 80,000 GVW & straight trucks up to 26,000 GVW, to transport materials to & from specified destinations, such as Donor Service Centers (DSC), stores, & facilities. Position is 4 - ten hour shifts, local routes only, & home at night. Must be 21 or older, pass DOT physical, DOT drug screening, & background check.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :
Current Class A Commercial Driver License. Minimum 3 years with a valid driver license. Motor vehicle report, including commercial, within acceptable guidelines / standards to meet Goodwill's driving policy (no moving violations in the last 3 years) & Insurance carrier requirements. Proof of current personal auto insurance.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
Supervise truck helper during pick-up & delivery operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following :
- Provide exemplary customer service to internal (employees) & external (donors) customers.
- Safely drive truck to various destinations along pre-planned routes.
- Complete receipts & / or required documentation for load delivery & / or pickups.
- Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
- Load & unload truck.
- Collect donations from donors at place of residence during home pick-ups.
- Maintain a courteous, respectful, & friendly attitude with the public.
- Maintain established grooming standards according to Goodwill dress code policy.
- Always approach & greet each donor in a friendly manner & thank the donor.
- Inspect truck equipment & supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, & water. Complete vehicle inspection form on a daily basis.
- Perform minor emergency roadside repairs such as, installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, & spark plugs & belts.
- Secure cargo prior to transit with proper use of load locks, ropes, & other devices to ensure safe transport.
- Use material handling equipment such as hand truck, pallet jack, & lift gate.
- Effectively sort, store, & process incoming donations according to established company standards in the appropriate workstations.
- Load & unload materials onto or from pallets, carts, totes, trays, racks & shelves by hand or by utilization of lifting devices & / or employee assistance.
- Load & unload materials onto or from vehicles, convey materials to or from storage or work sites to designated areas using hand truck, pallet jack or other devices.
- Effectively sort & stack materials including incoming donations in a safe & organized manner according to company standards avoiding either damaging or soiling donations.
- Ensure that donations with multiple parts (i.e., lamps & lampshades) are kept together.
- Effectively separate incoming donations by category (i.e., glass, wares, shoes, etc.) in a safe & organized manner, according to company standards, when unloading trucks.
- Transport processed donations to the appropriate production department. Utilize the freight elevator.
- Lift heavy objects by hand, using lift devices & / or employee assistance.
- Maintain a clean & organized work area.
- Must have flexible availability to work any combination of 4 days between Mon thru Sun for a 10-hour shift. Will be required to occasionally work overtime.
- Maintain a clean driving record.
- Follow all policies, procedures, & directives of GIIN assuring safety of personnel or property.
- Work collaboratively with WFS to provide participant services.
- Properly wear & maintain all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintain agency confidentiality. Violation of confidentiality is cause for immediate dismissal.
- Comply with all health, safety & fire standards & all local, state & federal regulations (WISHA & OSHA).
- Other duties as assigned.
