Job Summary : This role involves delivering expert critical care nursing during night shifts, emphasizing quality patient outcomes and efficient resource management.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Fiscal Responsibility : Efficiently utilizes resources and supplies to promote cost savings and effective budget use. Manages time productively by delegating tasks and scheduling proactively based on patient acuity and census. Engages in education on product and practice changes to support non-salary cost reductions.
- Quality : Actively participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives such as meaningful use, value-based purchasing, regulatory compliance, and nurse-sensitive indicators. Demonstrates critical thinking, multitasking abilities, and thorough documentation in line with unit and hospital standards, including during critical events. Practices accountable nursing processes to optimize care, collaborate with the team, streamline workflows, and enhance patient experience. Applies evidence-based practices and maintains up-to-date knowledge of policies and standards of care. Makes appropriate patient care assignments considering nurse expertise, patient acuity, and technical needs.
- Community Service and Patient Satisfaction : Positively represents the healthcare facility in community and hospital-sponsored events. Actively contributes to patient satisfaction through rounding, timely responses, service recovery, and professionalism. Maintains a therapeutic environment by reducing noise, managing electronic device use in patient areas, and supporting healthcare students and their programs.
- Patient Safety : Integrates safe patient care practices daily, including fall prevention, safe mobilization, medication administration, and patient identification. Utilizes event management systems to report near misses and engages in proactive error reduction. Adheres to Just Culture principles, HIPAA regulations, national safety standards, and social media policies.
- Professional Growth : Demonstrates leadership as charge RN, mentor, and preceptor. Maintains licensure and pursues growth opportunities such as certifications, clinical advancement programs, advanced degrees, and shared leadership roles. Participates in educational offerings and tracks professional development and attendance.
- Customer Service : Provides holistic care based on relationship-centered and unit-based nursing models, fostering interdepartmental collaboration. Education and Experience Required :
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.Proficiency with computer skills is necessary.At least three years of recent critical care nursing experience is required.Mandatory Licensure / Certifications :
Current active Registered Nurse licensure by the appropriate state board.Area-specific certifications such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, or specialty certifications must be obtained upon hire and maintained.Work Shift : Night shift from 7 : 00pm to 7 : 00am.
