Description :

This is an Emergency Room position.

The facility is not a trauma center.

There is no cath lab on site and it is not a stroke center.

Trauma, cath lab, and stroke cases are stabilized and transferred.

The Emergency Room has 25 beds.

There is a Fast Track area available.

A separate Triage area is designated.

Travelers are not allowed to perform Triage.

ER holds are managed in the same area.

There are separate Psych / seclusion rooms.

Security is present in-house 24 / 7.

On average, the Emergency Room treats 100 patients per day.

The nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 4 to 1 : 5.

Required certifications include ACLS and PALS.

Common diagnoses and types of patients vary.

Experience in emergency department is a must.

All critical emergency department drips are used.

Both physicians and mid-level providers are present.

The charge nurse may take an assignment.

Techs and sitters assist in the department.

The electronic medical record system used is Meditech.

Respiratory therapists perform various treatments, including breathing treatments.

There are no monitor techs; nurses read strips.

Transport is available right outside of the Emergency Room for X-Ray or CT.

Nurses draw labs; phlebotomy is not separate.

Scheduling is done with requests considered.

Shifts are usually 12 hours.

Weekend work is required every other weekend.

Holiday work is required every other holiday.

There is no call or standby requirement.

Travelers do not float to other units.

Navy blue scrubs are the required dress code.

Unit-specific orientation is provided.

The client may cancel up to three shifts within a thirteen-week assignment without penalty.

Charting is conducted in Meditech - 6.07.
