Manager, Security Operations
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Security Operations Manager is responsible for the daily planning, work scheduling, coordination, and operational performance of the security staff. The Security Operations Manager is expected to independently carry out assigned responsibilities but seeks guidance from the Director and / or upper management as needed. Reports to the Director of Safety, Security and Emergency Management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures the enforcement of security policies to maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Provides leadership and direction to security personnel in order to support daily operations.
Participates in the hiring process to include interviewing and selecting applicants, orienting security staff, conducting performance evaluations, and recommending corrective action when needed.
Provides timely and appropriate resolution to organizational concerns or complaints as it relates to safety and security.
Analyzes security operations to explore and identify opportunities for improvements.
Collaborates with other departments to enhance safety and security initiatives.
Keeps abreast of security trends and new developments.
Seeks guidance from leadership and / or upper management given unusual or unanticipated circumstances that require deviation from operational policies or elements of the work environment that impact safety and security.
Independently carries out and is accountable for daily operations and other activities as assigned.
LICENSES AND / OR CERTIFICATIONS
None required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Public Safety or other related discipline.
At least five years of relevant experience in security operations.
Military or Law Enforcement background preferred.
Technical knowledge of dispatch systems, two-way radios, and physical security equipment required.
Must be able to plan, supervise, and establish a professional working environment within areas of responsibility.
Must possess the ability to identify problems and implement solutions for operational and organizational issues.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to direct and assign work to subordinates and explain hospital and department policies & procedures.
Must meet the insurability policy requirements to drive a CHKD vehicle.
Must be able to pass the CHKD driving test within 30 days of employment.
CPR Training required and / or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed inside and outside the hospital in all weather conditions.
