Location : Medford, MA (Field-Based / Office Support as Needed)

Position Summary

The Sr. Licensed Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, service, programming, and repair of commercial fire alarm systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring systems are compliant with NFPA standards, manufacturer specifications, and state / local codes.

The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on technical expertise, the ability to mentor junior technicians, and a customer-first mindset. This role involves fieldwork, coordination with clients and contractors, and occasional on-call availability for emergency service needs.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect, test, service, and repair fire alarm systems for established customers in accordance with NFPA 72 and local codes.

Conduct system testing and programming for a variety of manufacturers (Notifier, EST, Siemens, Simplex, Gamewell FCI, etc.).

Troubleshoot fire alarm system issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.

Program and configure fire alarm control panels (FACPs), annunciators, and initiating devices.

Document work performed through detailed service tickets, inspection reports, and system logs.

Provide on-site customer training and support as needed.

Assist in mentoring and training apprentice or junior technicians in proper installation and troubleshooting procedures.

Participate in the on-call rotation for after-hours service and emergency response.

Maintain professional appearance, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction on all job sites.

Qualifications

Valid MA Class D Low Voltage License required; MA Electrician License preferred.

Minimum 5+ years of experience servicing, installing, and troubleshooting fire alarm systems.

Strong understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm Code).

Proficiency with software tools for major fire alarm manufacturers (Notifier, EST, Siemens, Simplex, etc.).

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.

Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team and manage multiple assignments.

OSHA 10 Certification preferred.
