Job summary :
Responsible for initial greeting and seating of guests, answering phones, taking messages and reservations, maintaining an accurate wait when necessary and bidding goodbye to all guests.
Essential functions :
Must be willing and able to :
Determine proper amount of reservations to be accepted for each shift according to standing operating procedureTake all reservation calls and record necessary informationConfirm applicable reservations according to standing operating procedureSeat the restaurant evenly and in an orderly manner so that the dining room looks well filled at all times and so that all servers have a fair share of the guestsMaintain an accurate head count of guests seated in each stationFill out completely all sections of a telephone message pad and pass on to the appropriate person within 10 minutes of the callCheck washrooms and coordinate with bus staff cleaning requirementsEnsure that host desk and waiting area are kept clean and organized throughout the shiftSell and accurately account for gift certificate salesMove tables as needed for larger or smaller partiesRelate to guests pleasantly and with good humorCommunicate effectively with guestsMust be willing and able to meet individual restaurant requirements in the following when that restaurant is on a wait :
Accurately quote wait time within 5 minutesEfficiently assign tables appropriate for parties being seatedAccurately fill out and maintain host / hostess control sheetAnticipate needs of scheduled special partiesCommunicate seating needs to service, bus and other host staffCordially inform the guest about where to wait and how wait system worksRequirements
Qualification standards :
Must provide a minimum of 1-year full service restaurant experience or the equivalent. Must have accurate mathematic skills.
