Middle Mile Logistics Manager
This role manages daily middle mile logistics, overseeing shipment execution, on-time performance, and financial optimization from facilities to customers. It involves resolving operational issues, driving process improvements, and fostering strong relationships with carriers and stakeholders to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery operations.
Location : Channahon, IL, working on-site 3x / week.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily execution of middle mile shipments from assigned Manufacturing Plants and Cross Docks to forward distribution centers and our customers.
- Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve complex distribution, carrier, fleet, and customer issues to minimize disruptions and maintain seamless logistics flow.
- Monitor and drive improvements in daily on-time performance for both departures and deliveries, implementing corrective actions to meet or exceed established KPIs.
- Manage and optimize financial performance of middle-mile deliveries through effective asset utilization, strategic shipment mode optimization, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Facilitate root cause analysis for operational challenges, contribute to the development and execution of solutions, and support seamless carrier onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Deliver process improvements that drive efficiency and help to ensure budget accountability and savings opportunity identification.
- Conduct regular (daily / weekly) carrier performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and driving accountability. Collaborate with Network Performance and Procurement teams to support carrier RFPs.
- Support the development and implementation of our enterprise products and systems.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including logistics service providers, carriers, customers, and customer teams to ensure alignment and collaboration in achieving enterprise logistics goals.
- Support cross functional teams in driving continuous improvement in Logistics Operations, including identifying areas for process improvement, cost reduction, and optimization of deliveries.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related preferred5+ years experience supporting the logistics / transportation industry preferredPreferred Certifications : CSCP, CPIM, Six SigmaIntermediate Excel knowledge (Pivot Tables, V Lookups, etc)Experience partnering with Carriers and working through Carrier resolution strongly preferredExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAnticipated salary range : $75,600 - $97,110
