Driver I

The Driver I will operate a commercial small truck or van to make safe and efficient deliveries and pickups. The Driver I should hold a valid driver's license. AIT Drivers are responsible for safely and accurately deliver and pickup cargo, keep accurate driving log and for inspect and maintain the company trucks.

Essential Responsibilities and Activities :

• Drive truck to and from specified destinations safely and follow all state, local laws, and DOT regulations.
• Focus on safety and compliance including the real time reporting of any accidents, incidents encountered on the road, monitoring of road conditions and following all applicable traffic laws.
• Handle general fleet maintenance including appropriate fueling, cleaning of truck, washing of windows, full inspection of truck before and after trip and proactive reporting of any maintenance needs.
• Prepare receipt for load picked up or bill of lading. Maintain driver hours of service using electronics logs and ensures rest periods according to state and federal regulations.
• Maintain and ensures compliance with DOT and other applicable regulations, including State or Federal regulations.
• Provide timely communication with supervisor / manager regarding the status of daily route; including, when stops have been completed, when taking lunch or other brakes, and prior to clocking out.
• Ensure timeliness of client delivery by proactively anticipating any delivery challenges and ensuring timely departure.
• Inspect truck equipment and supplies. Ensure time, date, verification, and signature on all freight paperwork. Perform emergency roadside repairs, secure cargo with proper equipment; load bars, e-track, and straps during transit.
• May load and unload truck when not driving the truck. May operate a forklift or pallet jack when not driving the truck. Destination may be either Short Haul or Long Haul.
• Maintain a clean work environment and follow safety policies. Other duties and responsibilities will be assigned as business demands deem necessary.

Licenses and Certifications : DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State. Must possess a valid driving license.
