Title : Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Operating Room

Location : Rochester, NY

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Day Shift, 4x10-Hour (11 : 00 - 21 : 30)

Job Responsibilities :

Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment, ensuring aseptic technique is upheld at all times.

Assist surgeons and the perioperative team during a variety of surgical procedures including general, gynecologic, orthopedic, neurosurgical, vascular, ENT, urologic, thoracic, and robotic cases.

Handle surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment efficiently and safely during operations.

Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and ensure the availability of required instruments and materials.

Participate in surgical counts, time-outs, and patient safety protocols according to universal standards.

Support operating room readiness by assembling, organizing, and sterilizing instruments and equipment.

Maintain accurate records of procedures and supplies used.

Participate in on-call rotations and weekend / holiday coverage as scheduled.

Required Skills & Experience :

Minimum 3 years of operating room experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist.

Previous charge experience required.

Epic charting system experience (required).

Demonstrated competency in multiple surgical specialties, including :

Vascular : Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Carotid Endarterectomy, Femoral-Popliteal bypass graft, Endovascular Aneurysm Repair

General Surgery : Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repairs, Thyroidectomy

Gynecology : Laparoscopic procedures, Dilation & Curettage, Hysterectomy, Bilateral tubal ligation

Orthopedics : Total hip / knee replacements, Spinal fusions, Carpal tunnel release

Neurosurgery : Craniotomy, Laminectomy / discectomy, Cervical and lumbar fusions

ENT : Tonsillectomy / adenoidectomy, Tracheostomy, Radical neck dissection

Urology : Cystoscopy, Nephrectomy, Prostatectomy, Ureteroscopy

Robotics : Da Vinci Xi surgical system experience preferred

Travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment handling 40-60 cases daily.

Strong knowledge of sterile processing and surgical instrumentation management.

Experience in a Level II trauma or teaching hospital preferred.

Certifications & Licenses :

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - required (NBSTSA certification).

BLS certification - preferred.
