Locum OB / GYN Hospitalist $232 / hr; $348 / hr OT Des Moines, IA

Anticipated Start Date : January 1, 2026

Schedule : 6.5 on-call shifts / month 24-hour call (7 : 00 AM 7 : 00 AM)

Position Overview

A leading health system in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Board-Certified or truly Board-Eligible OB / GYN Hospitalist for a locum to perm opportunity. This inpatient-only role focuses on providing high-quality obstetric and emergency gynecologic care in an on-call model, not continuous in-house presence.

Clinical Setting & Responsibilities

Setting : OB Emergency Department (OBED) & hospital-based obstetric care

Duties Include :

Managing OBED patients, including those without designated OB providers

Attending emergent deliveries and performing C-sections as needed

Supporting Iowa's only dedicated maternity transport team

Environment :

8-bed OBED with imaging, lab, and pharmacy onsite

Annual volume : 1,389 OBED visits / 463 deliveries

EMR : Epic

No APP supervision required

No telehealth responsibilities

Schedule & Call

6.5 call shifts per month

Each shift : 24-hour on-call coverage (7 : 00 AM 7 : 00 AM)

Includes weekend and holiday rotations

Call expectations are managed off-site unless patient needs arise

Candidate Requirements

Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in OB / GYN

Active Iowa medical license or IMLC eligibility (LOQ required at time of submission)

Confident in independently managing high-acuity obstetric cases

Pay Rate : $232 / hr; $348 / hr OT
