Description : Are you an experienced and forward thinker seeking a leadership position with an established and growing insurance company? Our client needs you! The individual will report directly to the VP of Underwriting, lead the day-to-day operations. Oversee staffing, training, workflow, performance management, and professional development of the underwriting staff. Develop and enforce underwriting guidelines, procedures, and risk selection standards that align with company philosophy and mutual values. Serve as a referral authority and mentor, providing guidance on complex, unusual, or borderline risks. Coach underwriters on useful communication strategies for dealing with difficult or complex situations, problematic agency relationships, or difficult accounts. Conduct regular quality assurance reviews and coach team members to maintain high underwriting standards. Partner with the VP of Underwriting to refine existing products and develop new offerings that meet market needs. In collaboration with the Marketing Director, conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities for product innovation or improvement. Build and maintain strong agency relationships, focusing on profitable growth and mutual success. Collaborate with underwriters and marketing to rehabilitate underperforming agencies and expand business with high-potential partners. Requirements : Bachelor's degree in business, insurance, or a related field. INS, AU or similar underwriting designation required; CPCU or CIC preferred. 8-10 years of property and casualty underwriting experience, including both commercial and personal lines. Prior supervisory or team leadership experience is strongly preferred. Experience with field underwriting, agency management, and mutual insurance operations is a plus. Product development and regulatory filing experience is highly desirable. Knowledge of MSO forms and manuals is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common underwriting systems; ImageRight experience preferred. Commitment to the principles of mutuality and service-oriented underwriting.
