The Electro Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) line of business within DRS has locations in Dallas and Austin, TX, Melbourne, FL, and Cypress, CA. EOIS develops, manufactures, and supports infrared and electro-optical solutions for soldiers, ground vehicles and airborne platforms. Job Responsibilities
- Involved with the design, fabrication and modification of mechanical and / or electro mechanical components, sub-systems and systems. May include Mechanical Analysis, Aerodynamics / Fluids, Thermal, Fluid Systems, Mechanical Packaging, or others. Evaluate and recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or services. Investigate solutions to product or process problems.
- Support engineering with a variety of moderately complex engineering duties and / or hands-on tasks
- Able to work independently on a weekly basis
- Comfortable with the shop / laboratory and equipment
- Assist in design, build and / or procurement of new or improved machines, tools, fixtures and material handling equipment and coordinating the implementation
- Responsible for completing process documentation, bill of materials, route sheets, etc
- Review project instructions and drawings to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem and possible solutions, and to support the design for manufacture
- Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified electrical and / or mechanical components or assemblies for products
- Set up and conduct tests of units and components
- Analyze test results related to the design and test objectives and adjust equipment to bring within specifications
- Record these test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test methods
- Provide and develop documentation to maintain equipment
- May lead technician teams in development or mentor other technicians
- Provide hands-on feedback to engineers
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
- Assist in the development of plant layouts, manufacturing methods and process improvements
- May coordinate maintenance projects
- Mentor and coach less experienced technicians
