Location : Remote (U.S. Based)

Work Type : Remote

Job Type : 6 12 Month Contract

Interview Type : Video Interview

Rate : $55 / hour on W2

Visa : Open (All work-authorized candidates eligible)

Role Overview

Kforce is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer with hands-on FedRAMP compliance experience for a remote federal project.

This role involves designing, building, and maintaining secure backend systems on Microsoft Azure , with a focus on meeting FedRAMP standards and documentation requirements .

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in C#, Java, Python, Node.js , and .NET Framework , along with experience implementing and validating security controls in cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain backend services using C#, Java, Python, Node.js , and .NET Framework .
  • Design and implement backend controls and configurations to ensure FedRAMP compliance .
  • Work with Azure Government and Azure compliance documentation to support audit processes.
  • Configure and secure Azure services such as App Service, Functions, SQL Database, Cosmos DB, and Blob Storage.
  • Contribute to and maintain FedRAMP documentation and evidence for audits and assessments.
  • Implement security best practices - logging, monitoring, encryption at rest, secure configuration management .
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to manage CI / CD pipelines via Azure DevOps .
  • Integrate data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and manage containers via Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) .
  • Conduct code quality and security reviews using tools such as SonarQube , Veracode , and Splunk SIEM .

    • Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Backend Engineer with focus on cloud and security compliance .
  • Strong proficiency in C#, Java, Python, Node.js , and .NET Framework .
  • Deep understanding of Azure's FedRAMP offerings , including Azure Government environments.
  • Hands-on experience implementing FedRAMP-required security controls and preparing documentation.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Pipelines, Repositories, App Services, Functions, and Data Factory .
  • Familiarity with Auth0, SAP Identity Management, BitLocker, SIEM (Splunk) , and container orchestration (AKS) .
  • Excellent documentation, collaboration, and communication skills.
