Summary
We’re looking for a detail-driven and motivated Senior Fuel Tax Analyst to join our dynamic Accounting & Tax team! In this role, you’ll take the lead on analyzing, preparing, and processing state fuel, sales / use, and other indirect tax filings, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency every step of the way.
You’ll work with advanced tools like Avalara and PDI to set up new state fuel tax processes, support audits and IDR requests, and maintain precise general ledger reconciliations. Your specialized knowledge will help strengthen our tax reporting structure, support audit defense for current and prior periods, and drive continuous improvement across our operations.

Essential Job Duties
- Analyze and process the state fuel, sales / use and other indirect tax return filings using methods from PDI reporting for analysis and using system methods from PDI into Avalara online.
- Analyze and process the state sales / use and other indirect tax filings using methods from PDI reporting according to state required methods and submission formats.
- Analyze and reconcile GL transactions associated with fuel inventory and sales.
- Create journal entries as necessary.
- Assist with associated audits and IDR requests in a timely manner.
- The willingness to learn PDI, Avalara and other required software for transaction analysis and customer tax set-ups.
- Set-up fuel tax return parameters using Avalara, PDI and other software, as needed.
