Senior Payroll & Benefits Specialist

Salary : $70,000-$80,000 +

Location : Alexandria, VA

Office Situation : 100% in-office

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for exempt and non-exempt employees using Paycom.
  • Oversee employee benefits administration, including open enrollment, new hire onboarding, and annual renewals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll and benefits questions.
  • Partner with HR leadership on compliance reporting, data audits, and process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations.
  • Assist with onboarding, HRIS updates, and related administrative functions as needed.

    • Qualifications :

  • 3+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience.
  • Experience managing employee benefits programs.
  • Strong attention to detail and familiarity with payroll systems (Paycom experience preferred).
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), SHRM, or CEBS designation preferred.
  • Previous experience in education, nonprofit, or mission-based organizations.
  • Knowledge of HR compliance, ACA, and related benefit regulations.
