Senior Manager, Data Engineering (AWS, Gen AI, Innovation Management) Capital One's People Technology Innovation Lab is hiring a new Manager to lead our dynamic team. What You'll Do Lead and inspire : Manage a team of innovators, providing coaching, mentorship, and career development to help them reach their full potential. Drive an innovation culture : Plan and execute various ideation events like pitch competitions, hackathons, and innovation challenges to encourage new ideas and collaboration across the organization. Champion emerging technologies : Oversee the development of innovative use cases using technologies such as Generative AI , Knowledge Graphs , and machine learning . Leverage data as a strategic asset : Partner with data scientists and analysts to ensure data is a core component of all innovation efforts, turning raw data into actionable insights and strategic products. Manage the innovation pipeline : Facilitate the end-to-end innovation process, from initial ideation and concept validation to prototyping and potential handoff for production. Build key partnerships : Collaborate with leaders and teams across Capital One's People Tech organization to identify pain points and opportunities for innovation. Communicate and influence : Act as a thought leader, communicating the value and impact of the team's work to senior leadership and key stakeholders. Basic Qualifications : Bachelor’s Degree At least 6 years of experience in application development (Internship experience does not apply) At least 2 years of experience in big data technologies At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) At least 4 years of people management experience Preferred Qualifications : Master's Degree 9 years of experience in application development including Python, SQL, Scala, or Java 4 years of experience with a public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) 5 years experience with Distributed data / computing tools (MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL) 4 year experience working on real-time data and streaming applications 4 years of experience with NoSQL implementation (Mongo, Cassandra) 4 years of data warehousing experience (Redshift or Snowflake) 4 years of experience with UNIX / Linux including basic commands and shell scripting 2 years of experience with Agile engineering practices 6 years of people management experience 2 years of experience in innovation management or working in an early-stage startup environment Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position. This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and / or long term incentives (LTI).
