About the Role
We are seeking a Senior System Administrator with Bacula Systems administrator-level certification to manage enterprise backup and recovery operations in a high-performance, DOE-regulated environment. This role supports mission-critical systems for projects requiring strict adherence to NQA-1 QA standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Bacula Enterprise backup infrastructure (Director, Storage / File Daemons, Catalog DB).
- Ensure compliance with DOE / NQA-1 QA requirements for backup and recovery processes.
- Manage and troubleshoot complex computer networks and legacy systems in a high-security environment.
- Perform disaster recovery testing , capacity planning, and performance tuning.
- Implement security controls , encryption, and role-based access for backup systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align backup policies with business and regulatory requirements.
- Document procedures and provide knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience (choose one) :Bachelor's in Computer Science, IT, or related field + 8 years relevant experience
Minimum 2 years administering high-performance networks and legacy systems under NQA-1 QA requirementsCertification :Current Bacula Systems Administrator Certification (required).
Clearance :Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance .
Technical Capabilities :InfiniBand technology
Bacula EnterprisePowerShell, Bash, and Python scriptingDatabase and website administrationOperation and maintenance of remote network, hardware, and software systemsPreferred Skills
Familiarity with VMware vSphere , SAN / NAS, and tape libraries (LTO / VTL).Knowledge of PostgreSQL / MySQL for Bacula Catalog management.Experience in federal or regulated environments with strict QA standards.
