Administrative Assistant I

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, Florida in the Office of the Inspector General. The mission of the Office of the Inspector General at the Florida Department of Corrections is to protect and to promote public integrity and accountability within the Department through investigations, audits, and inspections. We aim to detect and prevent fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct, ensuring that the Department operates efficiently and effectively while upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Job Duties :

  • Compiles and disseminates correspondences from various agencies, the public, and other sources.
  • Requests, receives, analyzes, and documents information of a confidential nature.
  • Prepares and completes written reports which are grammatically correct.
  • Checks and manages incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Takes incoming calls to the Inspector General's Office.

  • Recently Retired?   • Requirements :

  • An associate's degree or higher.
  • Two years of administrative, clerical or customer service experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and / or during reference checks.

    Additional Information :

  • Background Screening Requirement : The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes.
  • Employment Eligibility : The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) only hires U.S. citizens and those authorized to work in the U.S. FDC uses E-Verify to confirm an employee's eligibility to work after completing the I-9 form. The Florida Department of Corrections does not currently support H-1B Visa Sponsorship.
