We're looking for a seasoned UX Design Lead who can bring depth, clarity, and strategy to create value, lower barriers to entry, and accelerate product adoption throughout the customer journey In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for improving user-facing features and functionalities that are shared across multiple product lines or teams-including things like design systems, marketing and communications experiences, or platform services used by various product development groups. The goal is to create consistent, high-quality experiences while also driving efficiency and reducing redundancy This role requires a unique blend of craft excellence, research proficiency, stakeholder collaboration, and inspirational leadership to guide a team of designers across product experiences. The ideal candidate is a passionate, empathetic, and visionary design leader who thrives at the intersection of design, technology, and business strategy In this role, you'll partner closely with cross-functional teams, combining technical depth with a strong focus on user experience. You'll play a hands-on role in shaping the product roadmap-collaborating with Product to align on shared experiences and services across the broader portfolio You'll work alongside Engineering to design intuitive experiences that serve a range of user personas and experience levels. Leveraging product and user data, you'll drive continuous improvement through thoughtful planning and iteration Direct engagement with field teams and customers will be key to deepening product value and impact. As part of our digital organization, you'll also help mentor and learn from a team of experts, fostering a culture of collaboration, quality, and innovation Leads creative problem-solving across cross-functional teams, elevating thinking across the organization while aligning with broader business goals Proactively gathers, synthesizes, and applies insights from design research, competitive analysis, and data to inform strategic, full-featured product experiences Owns and drives complex programs of work, collaborating fluidly with product, engineering, and other cross-functional partners Attracts, hires, and mentors top-tier design talent, helping to grow and strengthen the team Approaches design with a holistic mindset to ensure we deliver seamless, end-to-end customer experiences Effectively manages multiple projects, adapting quickly to shifting priorities and business needs Advocates for and applies Design Thinking across the organization, embedding it into how we solve problems Communicates clearly and compassionately, fostering collaboration and psychological safety across teams Comfort with ambiguity along with an ability to motive teams and partners Demonstrates deep customer obsession and product intuition, rooted in user research and insights, to shape and advocate for bold strategies across the Loan experience Champions design excellence and the business value of UX through coaching, collaboration, and cross-org education Brings a strong design aesthetic that blends brand expression with systems thinking Communicates concepts clearly and persuasively to audiences at all levels Leads and develops design talent, setting clear expectations and fostering a collaborative, psychologically safe team culture Thinks strategically across time horizons-balancing near-term execution with long-term impact and business alignment Cultivates an inclusive team culture that values equity, diverse perspectives, and better product outcomes Builds strong cross-functional partnerships, aligning with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Marketing Drives operational excellence by identifying blockers, streamlining workflows, and improving focus, speed, and quality Uses a metrics-driven approach to track design health, business impact, and team performance Prioritizes effectively, balancing speed and rigor with high-leverage research methods tailored to the problem space Brings strong product and market fluency, integrating user needs, competitive context, and business goals to inform roadmaps Connects insights across UX, market, and brand research to shape cohesive, customer-centric strategies Provides thought leadership to evolve research practices and elevate the role of insights in a fast-paced environment The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and dependable design leader who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You bring a strong sense of ownership and the ability to work effectively within high-performing, cross-functional product teams. At the company, our teams span the East Coast, Midwest, and West Coast At least 10+ years of experience in product design or user experience At least 5+ years leading design projects, with experience managing designers or teams At least 3+ years of experience partnering with executive leadership on strategic initiatives A bachelor's degree in Product Design, Interaction Design, Fine Arts, or a related field-or equivalent practical experience Deep appreciation for the full spectrum of design disciplines : interaction, visual, content, motion, and research A proven track record of shipping products across platforms and geographies, and mentoring others through the process High proficiency with tools like Figma, Miro, Usertesting.com, Dovetail, and other standard design and research platforms A strong portfolio that demonstrates end-to-end thinking, critical problem-solving, and design craft across a range of work Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners in Product, Engineering, Data, and Marketing A self-starter with excellent time management, organizational skills, and obsessive attention to detail Identified and set platform strategies, envisioned complex user interactions, and inspired teams to push the boundaries of what's possible Ability to showcase design thinking and high level of craft across platforms Preferred experience working in a financial services industry, especially consumer lending
UX Design Lead, User Experience Design
Baltimore, MD (Preferred)
- HYBRID position - Onsite in office 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
- Work Location : Baltimore MD (preferred). Will also consider candidates that live within 50 miles of other corporate offices in Wilmington, DE; Charlotte, NC; Evansville, IN; or Irving, TX
- Potential for extension and conversion to FTE
Note : MUST be legally authorized to work in the United States.
This role is NOT open to 3rd party providers, W2 only.
