Job Title : Human Resources Specialist – Payroll & Benefits

Employment Type : Full-Time, Direct Hire

Salary Range : $58,000 – $64,500 annually (based on experience)

Job Summary :

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Human Resources Specialist with a focus on payroll and benefits administration. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of payroll processing and benefits management while providing outstanding customer service to all employees across both facilities.

Key Responsibilities :

Administer payroll and benefits processes for approximately 250 employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Coordinate with a third-party payroll provider for timely and accurate payroll processing.

Manage updates to employee records, including new hires, terminations, promotions, and other employment changes within the HR / payroll system.

Serve as the primary point of contact for employees to address payroll and benefits inquiries, providing high-level customer service and support.

Troubleshoot and resolve payroll discrepancies and benefits issues in a timely manner, ensuring employee satisfaction.

Act as the liaison between the company and third-party vendors for 401(k) administration and benefits management.

Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations as well as company policies.

Run regular payroll and benefits reports; analyze data to ensure accuracy and facilitate decision-making when needed.

Collaborate with the HR team to support broader initiatives, such as employee engagement, onboarding, and training.

Qualifications :

Experience : Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll administration or working directly with a third-party payroll provider.

Technical Skills : Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, data analysis) and Microsoft Outlook.

Attention to Detail : Strong ability to maintain accurate records and ensure compliance in all payroll and benefits activities.

Communication Skills : Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels.

Customer Service : Proven track record of delivering exceptional employee support and resolving issues efficiently.

Education : Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Additional Requirements :

Screening : All applicants must successfully complete a background check and drug screening to be considered for the position.

Working Conditions : This position requires 100% onsite presence with no exceptions.

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in payroll administration, including multi-state payroll.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems such as UKG Pro and Kronos Timekeeping System.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes for mid-sized organizations (101-500 employees).
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with employees and team members.
  • Experience in human resources administration.
