This position reports to Industry Lead, Pulp & Paper North America.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role as the DCS Business Development Manager for the Pulp & Paper local Business Line for North America, you will be responsible for supporting the sales of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) solutions for new system opportunities as well as upgrades and expansions to existing systems. This is a remote position, and successful candidates reside in the Midwestern, Eastern or Southern United States. Successful candidate will need to be located within 90 minutes of an airport that has reasonable flight options to the rest of the US. The work model for the role is : Remote This role is contributing to the Pulp & Paper Local Business line with the Process Automation Process Industries Division for North America. You will be mainly accountable for :

  • Helping develop and implementing the sales support strategy for Distributed Control Systems (DCS) products and services for our North American Pulp and Paper Sale and Business Development organization.
  • Creating and conducting product demonstrations, training sessions, and sales technical presentations for customers and the P&P sales team.
  • Supporting the ABB P&P Automation Roadshow for DCS focused visits.
  • Developing the most technically appropriate and cost-effective solutions to meet customer needs.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor's degree and 7 years relevant work experience required or an Associate's Degree and 9 years of relevant work experience required or HS Diploma and 11 years of relevant work experience required.
  • Significant experience with Distributed Control Systems is required. Experience with ABB's 800xA DCS preferred. Experience with ABB's legacy DCS systems (Advant and / or Bailey) is a plus.
  • 2+ years experience working within the P&P industry as a supplier in a sales related or service support related role.
  • Previous experience in a sales support or direct sales role is a plus.
  • Competency using MS Office products with strong skills using Excel.
  • Ability to travel 50% as needed.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
  • The Process Industries Division serves the mining, minerals processing, metals, cement, pulp and paper, battery manufacturing, and food and beverage, as well as their associated service industries. The Division brings deep industry domain expertise coupled with the ability to integrate both automation and electrical systems, increase productivity and reduce overall capital and operating costs for customers. For mining, metals and cement customers, solutions include specialized products and services, as well as total production systems. The Division designs, plans, engineers, supplies, installs and commissions integrated electrical and motion systems, including electric equipment, drives, motors, high power rectifiers and equipment for automation and supervisory control within a variety of areas including mineral handling, mining operations, aluminum smelting, hot and cold steel applications and cement production. The offering for the pulp and paper industries includes control systems, quality control systems, drive systems, on-line sensors, actuators and field instruments. Digitalization solutions, including collaborative operations and augmented reality, help improve plant and enterprise productivity, and reduce maintenance and energy costs.
