Your day as a Float Operator

As a Float Operator at Barrett Petfood, you can expect a dynamic and engaging work environment from day one. Your daily responsibilities will include operating various machinery, assisting in the production process, and ensuring the highest quality standards are met. You'll collaborate with fellow team members to troubleshoot any issues that arise and maintain a safe and efficient workspace.

Each day, you'll have the opportunity to learn new skills and gain valuable insights into the manufacturing process. Your schedule will be consistent, with shifts running from 10 : 00 PM to 6 : 30 AM, Monday through Friday allowing for a structured work-life balance. Day to day responsibilities

  • Verify LPNs
  • Chisel meat and load it onto a moving conveyer belt
  • Use whiteboard to verify staged meat & keep count of meat used
  • Shutting off grinder when out of meat
  • Utilize FIFO when pulling meat out of the freezer
  • Stacking pallets
  • Help others as needed
  • Assist in Entering batch information into Plex Software and manage inventory on a daily basis to ensure product is in stock and accurately counted
  • Mix ingredients together and grind blocks of meat into meat grinder
  • Add oils as needed per customer specifications
  • Unload frozen meat pallets into freezer for storage using forklift
  • Clean meat room equipment throughout the day and at the end of runs to ensure sanitation of equipment is up to standards
  • Use a yard dog to move 53ft trailers around yard when needed
  • Work with a team to ensure products are safely processed in a timely manner
