McKesson’s St. Louis Distribution Center is seeking a Director of Operations to lead all aspects of facility performance, including operational execution, financial accountability, inventory management, and long-term strategic planning.

This role is responsible for creating a high-performing environment focused on safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement - all in service of delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Align local operations with regional and enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Set priorities, allocate resources, and ensure teams are working toward shared goals.
  • Partner with Sales, HR, Engineering, Six Sigma, Finance, and Transportation to drive performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, customer needs, and labor planning challenges.

People Leadership

  • Lead and develop a team of up to 10 DC leaders and 100+ employees.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Model McKesson’s ICARE and ILEAD values in all interactions.
  • Drive employee engagement, talent development, and succession planning.
  • Address workforce challenges including turnover, generational dynamics, and DEI initiatives.
  • Financial Ownership

  • Own P&L performance, budgeting, and expense control for the facility.
  • Monitor and analyze operational metrics to support cost-effective decision-making.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy and minimize exposure to risk and loss.
  • Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations (DEA, FDA, OSHA).
  • Lead internal audits and ensure SOP adherence across operations.
  • Champion a culture of safety through training, monitoring, and proactive risk mitigation.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • 12+ years of professional experience, including 4+ years in a management role
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Critical Skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and navigate complex decision-making environments
  • Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Experience with WMS systems, warehouse control systems, and material handling equipment
  • Deep understanding of drug distribution and wholesaling across customer segments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and McKesson’s suite of PC-based applications
  • Proven success in building and developing high-performing teams

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.     Our Base Pay Range for this position

    $111,200 - $185,300
