Senior Director of Financial Planning & Analysis

This role will play a critical part in shaping the National Trust within the Finance Division by providing analyses and insights and developing related KPIs from financial and operational data. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, collaborative partner, and passionate advocate. This position also works closely with the Senior Director of Site Administration and the rest of the Historic Sites Department to provide additional support and financial reporting and analysis.

BASE PAY

$146,000.00 / yr - $156,000.00 / yr

The Senior Director of Financial Planning & Analysis will be involved in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to support the organization

DUTIES

Strategic Financial Planning : Provide strategic financial planning and analysis to support business decisions and long-term initiatives. Gather and analyze data to drive informed decisions, identify growth opportunities, and optimize resources. Build and maintain dynamic financial models that inform scenario planning and resource allocation.

Risk Assessment : Assist CFO with ongoing risk assessment and management. Identify, assess, and mitigate financial, technological, governance and other risks; collaborate with stakeholders to monitor risk factors and implement mitigations.

Reporting & Analysis : Prepare regular financial reporting for departments, including historic sites. Analyze financial information, propose solutions, and provide in-depth information to CFO and Senior Leaders. Prepare dashboards to track metrics including capital projects.

Monthly Close and Budget Preparation : Assist in preparation of financial forecasts and budgets, perform variance analyses, and participate in monthly / quarterly / annual close processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

At least 15 years of professional experience, including at least 7 years in nonprofit accounting, budgeting, and planning with teams to deliver high-quality results.

Professional experience in a complex and geographically dispersed nonprofit is preferred.

Demonstrated experience with financial modeling and managing key internal and external stakeholders.

Advanced analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills with sound judgment and timely analysis.

Advanced project-management, team-management, and client-management skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Experience supervising professional staff and building productive stakeholder relationships.

Excellent writing, spelling, grammar, proofreading, and verbal communication skills; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and manage high volumes of requests in a dynamic environment; entrepreneurial mindset a plus.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with accounting software and databases is a plus.

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Regular and reliable attendance is required.

PAY & BENEFITS

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible for full benefits, including health, dental and life insurance, retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and several weeks of vacation, sick time, and holidays.
