SUMMARY

Join our dedicated team as a Medical Laboratory Technologist, where you will play a vital role in ensuring patient safety and achieving high-quality clinical outcomes through accurate specimen analysis, reporting, and troubleshooting.

Gouverneur Hospital (GH) is a recognized not-for-profit critical access hospital, providing extensive services including inpatient detox, rehabilitation for substance use disorders, emergency care, imaging, EKGs, physical therapy, and respiratory therapy. Outpatient services are also offered in nearby locations such as DeKalb Junction and Edwards.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Analysis & Reporting : Conduct precise specimen analysis and report results meticulously, adhering to established protocols; identify deviations from expected outcomes, analyze issues, and implement corrective actions based on scientific principles; maintain up-to-date QC Action Logs, preventative maintenance logs, and pending lists daily.

Training & Development : Facilitate the training of new laboratory personnel; assess their progress and recommend appropriate training methods and content.

Evaluation : Regularly evaluate work processes and suggest enhancements to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and address operational challenges; monitor reagent inventories effectively.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

BS in Medical Technology or related science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physical Sciences) with equivalent experience recognized by the New York State Department of Education for Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure.

Current New York State Department of Education License, Provisional Permit, or Limited Permit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Experience in a Clinical or Pathology Laboratory is preferred.

Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is preferred.

Strong communication and evaluation skills are highly desirable.

Exceptional documentation skills and a keen attention to detail are preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

This position requires medium work, involving exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently. It requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.

PAY RANGE : $33.75 - $45.00

This base pay range represents the current potential pay for a successful full-time applicant and may be subject to change in the future. Pay may include additional components and is influenced by factors such as experience, qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contractual agreements.
