Responsibilities
- Serve as Incident Command for all emergencies
- Serve as the school’s liaison to the local Police Department, Fire Department, and other law enforcement and emergency management related agencies
- Be on-call 24 / 7 to respond to and / or coordinate safety and security emergencies, including weather related events
- Supervise all Campus Safety Officers (CSO’s)
- Serve as subject-matter expert on security and crime related issues and maintain best practice information relative to safety and security
- Create and issue department policies
- Lead investigations of criminal or other internal matters
- Schedule and lead school required drills : Lockdown, Emergency Evacuation, and Severe Weather Drills
- Display the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies
- Advise architectural design teams for construction and renovation projects relative to school safety
- In collaboration with School administration, administers the Safety and Security budget to ensure safety and security in the school and by the most cost-effective utilization of resources
- Assist with Threat Assessments of Students, Staff and Faculty
- Oversee and coordinate the “no trespass” notifications for the school
- Adhere to federal statutes and regulations, school law, Board of Education rules and regulations, School Committee policies and procedures, and contractual obligations
- Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the National Director of Security or their designee
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Some combination of : at least three (3) years supervisory experience, including assigning, managing, and evaluating staffAt least three (3) years demonstrated experience in administrative and program development, preferably in a school environmentHave at least five (5) years of relevant experience in safety and / or security including management of security technology systemsPossession of a bachelor’s degree in a related field (substitutes for up to 2 years experience)Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with time sensitive deadlinesAbility to work independentlyAbility to exercise sound judgment and manage multiple tasks and prioritiesAbility to plan and present information, including training, to a variety of audiencesOutstanding organizational and interpersonal skillsExcellent integrity, professionalism, and exceptional work ethicExcellent oral and written communication skills and exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAvailable for rapid response in emergency, crisis, or weather-related situationsExperience using and managing access control systemsExperience using and managing video recording and camera systemsExperience using and managing building entry and visitor management systemsBenefits
