Job Description

As a Senior Enterprise Architect youll play a pivotal role in shaping WGUs technological landscape. Youll lead the design and implementation of enterprise-wide solutions that are scalable resilient and aligned with our mission to improve student success through innovation. Your work will directly influence how technology supports our strategic goals and empowers teams across the university.

What Youll Do

Define and enforce architecture standards design patterns and best practices across the enterprise

Lead cross-functional collaboration to translate business needs into scalable resilient technology solutions

Document current and future-state architectures aligned with WGUs strategic objectives

Provide mentorship and training to team members and stakeholders across the organization

Evaluate and recommend technologies tools and vendors to support enterprise goals

Conduct performance assessments and capacity planning to optimize systems and mitigate risks

Ensure architectural compliance with security and regulatory requirements

What Youll Bring

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field

10 years of relevant experience including 3 years as an Enterprise Architect or 8 years in a technical leadership role

Proven experience designing service-oriented architectures with a shift-left cybersecurity focus

Development experience (e.g. Java C Python)

Expertise in designing high-resiliency solutions focused on performance fault tolerance and scalability

Strong collaboration design and negotiation skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts

Proficiency with visualization tools like Visio Lucid or similar

Bonus Points if You Have

Masters Degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS Azure GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker Kubernetes)

Certifications in cloud technologies or enterprise architecture (e.g. TOGAF Zachman)

Experience in lieu of education

Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements. Generally equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education and is the discretion of the hiring manager.

Position & Application Details
