Under the direction of the RN Supervisor, the LPN Wing Supervisor carries out the medical
plan of care and oversees the Nursing Assistants' care of residents and High School Students to insure
that resident care is carried out in accordance with good nursing practice and
applicable State and Federal regulations. Client's ideal candidate would be someone who has a passion to work with and interact with residents daily.
GENERAL DUTIES
Physician's Computer Company : EHR / EMRAdministers and records medication, treatments andmonitoring e.g. glucose checks, as ordered and reports and documents resident
response
Accurately transcribes physician's ordersCompletes monthly summaries as scheduledReviews the care plan with NAs on monthly summary dayand updates the care plan to reflect the resident's current condition.
Notifies the RN Supervisor immediately of a significantchange in resident's condition
Reports and records changes in resident condition to theRN Supervisor
Communicates resident transfers to immediate family andvia email to department heads
Completes transfer form for all transfersUpdates care plans with clear, concise, time limitedgoals to reflect resident condition and directs team to implement approaches
Assists physicians with rounds, examinations andtreatments as needed
Collects laboratory specimens e.g. : urine, cultures,stool, etc. and arranges for delivery to Hospital with accurate and complete
requisitions. Documents in PCC when
laboratory work is done
On resident death, supervises and assists with postmortem procedures. Assists with collection of resident's clothing and
belongings. Notifies all department
heads of death via email, makes phone calls as directed by RN Supervisor
Encourages resident participation in scheduledactivities
Reports to team changes in resident condition, care planchanges and any special assignments to be carried out
Assists RN Supervisor with annual evaluations of nursingassistants
Along with RN Supervisor, writes commendations andcounseling records as needed
Accurately completes incident reports or assists teammembers in writing report
Documents weights and vital signs and follows up asneeded, including reweighing residents if there is a three pound or more
discrepancy from the last weight
Cleans and stocks treatment trays dailyPrepares daily report for the wingCounts narcotics with another nurse at beginning and endof shift
Maintains an accurate inventory of resident belongings -notes new items brought in and items removed from facility
Maintains work area in clean, orderly condition.Performs housekeeping assignments as scheduled
Submits maintenance requests as neededMaintains a clean, safe and healthy environment andreports potential safety hazards
Supervises and directs resident care by nursingassistants to insure the prescribed plan of care is carried out
Performs additional duties as directed by supervisorAttends care plan conference for residents on assignedwing if requested
Assists in orientation of new nursing staffAdjusts staffing assignments as needed to insure goodresident care
Conducts team conferences as neededAssures that staff is familiar with changes in policiesand procedures
Updates the daily census as neededMonitors NA documentation for completeness andcompliance with regulations
Collects data for quality assurance studies as directedMonitors nurse aide job performance for compliance withinfection control practices
Provides direct care for residents as needed, withinrestrictions
Seeks clarification or guidance to perform jobresponsibilities when in doubt
Documents drug disposal on resident charts in PCC.Attends in-services, department and staff meetings,committee meetings as required
