Manager Finance - Tax

Deaconess Health System is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Manager to lead the organization's tax compliance and planning functions. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns, maintaining compliance with applicable tax laws, and supporting strategic financial initiatives across the health system.

Key Responsibilities :

• Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns, including Form 990 and related schedules.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations and monitor changes in tax legislation.
• Lead tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
• Analyze financial data to identify tax-saving opportunities and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with internal departments to gather documentation for tax filings and financial reporting.
• Develop and implement internal controls related to tax processes.
• Support the preparation of financial statements and tax provisions.
• Provide guidance on tax implications of business decisions, joint ventures, and facility integrations.
• Assist in strategic planning and budgeting processes with tax-related insights.
• Mentor and supervise junior finance staff involved in tax-related tasks.

Qualifications : Education :

Required : Bachelors or better in Accounting or related field.

Preferred : Masters or better in Business Administration.

Experience :

Preferred : Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax accounting, preferably in healthcare or nonprofit sectors. Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws, including nonprofit tax regulations. Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Excel. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
