Description :
As an Engraver at Point Eight Power, you will be responsible for engraving identification plates, tags, control panel fronts, nameplates, and other required components used in our switchgear and control building assemblies. Your work will ensure that all markings comply with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and industry standards. Accuracy, attention to detail and a commitment to quality are essential.
Schedule : Monday to Friday 7am to 4pm
What You'll Do
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, job orders, specifications and engraving layouts to determine required text, symbols, placement, font size / style, and surface treatment.
- Set up and operate engraving equipment (e.g., CNC engraving machines, laser engravers, plate-engraving presses, rotary engravers) to produce component labels, nameplates, control panel fronts, bus-bar labels, terminal tags, etc.
- Select appropriate materials (metal plates, plastic laminates, phenolic, aluminum, stainless steel, etc.), ensure correct thickness, finish, color and durability per specification.
- Load engraving files or input data manually, set machine parameters (speed, feed, depth, etch / engrave settings), perform test runs, adjust settings as needed for clarity and consistency.
- Verify engraved pieces against job documentation for correctness of part number, serial number, panel ID, voltage, warning text, customer name, etc.
- Perform finishing operations : cleaning, deburring, polishing, stamping, adhesive application or mounting hardware (rivets, screws, clips) as required.
- Maintain inventory of engraving materials, plates, fonts, adhesives and tools; alert supervisor when supplies are low.
- Maintain the engraving work area : keep machines clean, perform routine maintenance, report malfunctions, follow safety protocols (PPE, machine guards, incident reporting).
- Work closely with production, assembly and quality control teams to ensure timely delivery of engraved parts and consistently high quality.
- Document and track engraved plate records, maintain part traceability, ensure compliance with company quality and safety standards.
- Support continuous improvement efforts : suggest enhancements to engraving processes, reduce waste, improve legibility, reduce errors, increase throughput.
What we are Looking For :
High school diploma or equivalent, Required.Experience in engraving, labeling or nameplate production, preferably in an industrial / manufacturing environment, Required.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, job orders and specifications., Required.Familiarity with engraving equipment (CNC engraver or laser engraver) and control software.Basic mechanical aptitude : ability to set up machine tooling, adjust feeds, depths, clean and maintain equipment.Strong attention to detail with excellent accuracy for text, symbols and alignment.Good manual dexterity and ability to handle small parts and tools.Basic computer skills and willingness to learn data-entry and engraving software.Ability to stand for extended periods, bending, lifting plates up to 50 lbs (or per company standard), and work in a manufacturing environment (noise, general industrial conditions).Commitment to safety practices and quality workmanship.Preferred :
Certificate or training in engraving, plate making or industrial labeling.Experience working with electrical enclosure nameplates, control panel identification, or switchgear industry.Familiarity with ANSI / UL / ISO labeling standards.Ability to assist in multiple areas of manufacturing (cross-training in assembly, finishing, etc.).Previous experience in a continuous-run manufacturing facility with strong quality standards.Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching required.Exposure to heat, humidity, cold, noise, electrical components, and occasional fumes or airborne particles.Must follow all safety procedures.Why Join Us?
