Position Overview

The Ohio State University, Department of Microbiology in the College of Arts and Sciences, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of microbial cell biology.

Performance Objectives

• Develop and maintain a productive research program.
• Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.
• Demonstrate excellence in student mentorship.
• Support departmental operations as an active citizen through service on committees, project assignments, and / or administrative leadership roles.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required : Ph.D. in microbiology, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology or related field; postdoctoral training; a record of peer-reviewed research.

Desired : Track record as a mentor; experience with interdisciplinary research; evidence of independence.

Department Information

The Department of Microbiology comprises 23 faculty members and is committed to advancing knowledge through research, educating students from all backgrounds, and serving communities and organizations at all levels. Our unit values basic science and has strengths in molecular microbiology and microbial physiology. We collaborate with multidisciplinary on-campus organizations such as the Center for RNA Biology, the Center for Microbiome Science, the Infectious Disease Institute, and the Department of Microbial Infection and Immunity. Our faculty has access to facilities such as the Campus Microscopy & Imaging Facility.
