Description :

The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for providing accurate and timely scheduling support to the Operating Room, PPE, Pre-op, and PACU.

This role requires collaboration with various departments to ensure that patients are scheduled appropriately based on physician blocks and schedules.

The technician will perform all duties according to established policies and procedures, with a strong emphasis on cleaning, decontaminating, and packaging instruments and equipment.

Responsibilities include receiving contaminated equipment, surgical instruments, and supplies, and documenting the cleaning process using electronic tracking software.

The technician must dismantle items as necessary and select appropriate cleaning methods, including both manual and automated cleaning tools.

It is also important to maintain a clean and organized work area for efficient use by peers.

The technician will inspect and assemble instruments and equipment according to established guidelines and verify functionality.

Proper documentation of work performed is mandatory, alongside the use of internal indicators for sterilization.

The technician interprets package labeling to select the suitable sterilization method and performs routine sterilizer testing to verify cycle completion and monitor effectiveness.

Moreover, adherence to established sterilization protocols is essential, particularly when dealing with heat-sensitive items.

Utilizing approved personal protective equipment (PPE) throughout all processes is mandatory.

This position requires effective communication and teamwork with clinical staff to uphold patient safety and service quality.
