Responsibilities Work in a hospital Surgical Services unit at a Level II Trauma Center Cares for surgical patients including urology, neuro, ortho, robotic, general, podiatry, ENT, gynecology, and trauma cases 10 operating rooms run Monday through Friday from 7 : 00 AM to 3 : 00 PM Additional care areas include 20 Pre-Op bays and 14 PACU bays Patient ratios : OR 1 : 1, Pre-Op 1 : 2, PACU Phase I 1 : 1 or 1 : 2 based on acuity, Phase II 1 : 2-3 EPIC charting system used; Epic experience preferred but not required Omnicell and Alaris equipment used 8 hour variable shifts with a weekend rotation Call requirements include one overnight per week and every third weekend, with a 15 minute response time Floating may be required to Endo, PreOp, PACU, or the floor as helping hands Works alongside an interdisciplinary team including RN / First Assist / Surg Tech, Nurse Clinician, CRN, Service Line Leads, HUC, Anesthesia, and OR Techs Pre-Op / PACU teams include RNs, nurse aides, clinicians, and CRNs One week of facility and unit orientation provided Sleep room available in the Pre-Op / PACU area during call shifts Required to cover 2 out of 4 major holidays Scrubs are provided Free parking available for all staff First-time travelers are not considered without manager approval Requirements Active RN license for South Dakota or compact state, currently in hand Minimum 2 years of OR experience in a Level I or II trauma setting Current BLS and ACLS certifications required Completion of an approved nursing education program Experience with orthopedic trauma (ORIF, Ex fix, amputations), neuro (craniotomy, spinal), general, robotics (Davinci XI, SP, DV5), and surgical cases in a tertiary care setting Must live more than 100 miles from the facility Permanent staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler Epic EMR experience preferred Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-630887.
