Pay Rate : $20 / hour

Shift / Hours :

3rd Shift – Tuesday through Saturday, 1 : 00 AM – 9 : 30 AM

Overtime : As required

Position Summary

The Lab Assistant will perform routine laboratory support functions to assist laboratory professionals and ensure efficient specimen processing and production. This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work efficiently during overnight hours.

Key Responsibilities

Sort, receive, and log laboratory specimens

Perform centrifugation, specimen storage, and retrieval

Prepare specimens for testing, including aliquoting, labeling, and slide preparation

Build worklists and inspect specimens for clots or fibrin

Prepare reagents and / or media

Perform QA / QC duties as assigned

Resolve pending lists and locate missing samples

Decontaminate work areas and dispose of biohazardous materials

Conduct weekly radioactive wipe tests

Maintain departmental records and files

Change gas cylinders as needed

Follow PPE requirements and laboratory safety regulations

Operate laboratory computer systems and PCs

Complete required training and competency checklists

Required Skills & Qualifications

Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently

Strong attention to detail and ability to retain learned information

Ability to interact professionally with coworkers and internal customers

Comfortable working in a laboratory environment

Preferred Qualifications

Medical Assistant training

Coursework in math and science

Education & Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent required

No prior laboratory experience required
