Overview :

Girls Global Academy is a dynamic and growing charter high school dedicated to empowering young women through rigorous academics, personal growth, and community engagement. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Associate Dean of Students to join our team.

Position Overview :

The Associate Dean of Students will play a critical role in supporting the holistic development and well-being of our students. This individual will work collaboratively with students, families, faculty, and staff to cultivate a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes student success and achievement under the supervision and leadership of the School Culture and Student Success Coordinator.

Responsibilities :

  • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that values diversity, equity, and belonging.
  • Oversee student behavior management systems and disciplinary procedures, ensuring fairness and consistency.
  • Implement and monitor school safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being and security of students, staff, and visitors.
  • Monitor all areas of the school, both inside and outside the classroom, to promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in school safety and security and make recommendations for enhancements as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to identify and address the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students.
  • Serve as a mentor and advocate for students, providing guidance and support as they navigate academic and personal challenges.
  • Coordinate and facilitate student leadership development programs and extracurricular activities.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and community partners.
  • Monitor and analyze student data to assess needs and inform decision-making related to student support services.
  • Stay current on best practices and trends in student support services and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor degree in education, counseling, social work, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a school setting, preferably in a leadership or student support role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development, trauma-informed practices, and restorative justice principles.
  • Ability to effectively manage crises and resolve conflicts in a calm and professional manner.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of students and the school community.
  • Experience working with urban youth and an understanding of the unique challenges they may face.
