Accounting Position
City of Hawaiian Gardens offers a full-time management position with a salary range of $38.49 - $46.79 hourly, located in Hawaiian Gardens, California.
This position is within the Finance department and is non-exempt under the FLSA. The role involves a variety of complex accounting tasks and functions, requiring a degree in accounting. While it provides technical advice to others in the department, it is not a supervisory position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities include :
- Preparing, calculating, and processing the City-wide payroll
- Preparing PERS retirement contributions of all vested qualified employees on a biweekly basis
- Preparing and posting all payroll journal entries
- Drafting and distributing allocations and posting journal entries according to Bargaining Unit MOUs or approved employment agreements
- Remitting and filing payroll taxes and all other city-wide tax reporting requirements
- Monitoring and updating the daily cash position of the City
- Maintaining general and subsidiary ledgers, journals, budgetary and cost accounting records in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices
- Maintaining budgetary controls
- Maintaining records for insurance enrollments, retirement funds, pay rates, hours worked and other related functions
- Reconciling health insurance invoices and preparing them for processing
- Posting, maintaining, and analyzing records for various accounts and funds
- Assisting with preparation of records and documents for state, local, and federal reporting processes and requirements
- Auditing invoices, purchase orders, payrolls, and warrants; reconciling subsidiary and control accounts, bank ledgers, and fiscal statements
- Examining and verifying financial documents with books of entry
- Preparing various financial reports
- Classifying and coding accounting source data, making adjustments, and closing entries
- Providing information regarding status of financial statements and accounts
- Performing related duties as assigned
