Position Summary :
The Accounting Auditor is responsible for conducting all gaming and non-gaming revenue audits for the property. Auditor completes audits in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with all company standards, policies, procedures, minimum internal control standards and system of internal controls. Performs first line review of all transactions posted to the general ledger in relation to all gaming and non gaming revenue audits. Training ongoing to prepare for Accounting Auditor II position.
Essential Functions :
1. Responsible for redefining hospitality at Graton Resort & Casino while living, supporting, and promoting our values.
2. Ensure adherence to all confidentiality requirements regarding all information, verbal or documented, to which the auditor has been provided directly or indirectly.
3. Ensure integrity in all aspects of the audit process and perform assignments in a pleasant, friendly and professional manner at all times.
4. Perform as a team player in a team-oriented environment to ensure accurate and timely completion of all audits.
5. Ensure that all revenues / expenses are supported by properly authorized documentation, recorded to the proper account and review account balances in the ERP system at predetermined frequencies.
6. Generate reports from various systems of records depending on what audit is being conducted. Review and verify all reports, documentation and other supporting information for completeness, authenticity, authorization, and accuracy.
7. Audit tax forms in relation to gambling winnings (W2G, 1042-S and 1099-MISC) and ensure accuracy in tax system for tax filings.
8. Create, edit and update excel spreadsheets, and verify balances to reports.
9. Review audit results / spreadsheets for reasonability and investigate any unexpected or unreasonable deviations; investigate any discrepancies or cash variances exceeding predetermined thresholds and report results to management.
10. Prepare exception reports in electronic system for violations noted during audits to send to appropriate departments.
11. Communicate professionally via email, phone or any other communication type necessary to all department leadership teams to assist in audit related questions or gathering audit documentation.
12. Adheres to all company and department policies and procedures.
13. Scan, file and log accounting documents. Compile documents for proper storage and perform other general office and accounting projects and duties as directed by management.
Required Qualifications :
1. Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members and Management in both written and verbal form.
2. Must be at least 21 years of age.
3. Must obtain and maintain all necessary licensing.
4. Must be able to interact with others and maintain a positive and professional demeanor under frequently fast-paced work conditions.
5. Must be able to meet all assigned deadlines.
6. Must have good analytical, organizational and time management skills.
7. Must be attentive to detail and have the ability to perform basic data entry.
8. Must be proficient with Windows operating system and competent in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook. Must be able to pass a basic Excel test.
9. Must know 10-key by touch.
10. Must be flexible with daily responsibilities and work schedule; able to work holidays, weekends and 10-hour shift.
11. Gaming audit experience or casino operations preferred, but not necessary.
12. Willing to learn all areas of accounting.
Physical Requirements :
This job has the following physical requirements :
1. Standing : Occasionally, up to two hours per shift.
2. Walking : Occasionally, to and from break periods, to retrieve paperwork, supplies, and any other job-related tasks.
3. Sitting : Regularly, up to entire shift.
4. Bending : Occasionally, as needed to retrieve paperwork, audit of slot machine serial numbers, and as needed to organize workspace.
5. Twisting : Rarely, as needed for audit of slot machines and organization of workspace.
6. Kneeling : Rarely, as needed to organize workspace.
7. Squatting : Rarely, as needed to organize workspace.
8. Lift / Carry / Push / Pull : Occasionally, ability to lift up to 20 pounds with or without assistance to organize box storage. Pushing and pulling as needed with carts.
9. Reaching above the shoulders and other hand arm use : Rarely, as needed to organize workspace.
Work Conditions :
Work is typically in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, and may contain second-hand smoke. Work may be performed in small areas with a 3 ft. wide access. These tasks include the maintenance and care of assigned area. Work may entail trained chemical usage. Constant contact with fellow Team Members and Guests.
