Corner View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center – Pittsburgh, PA
Corner View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities & Smoking Aide to join our team. This role is vital in supporting residents’ physical, mental, and emotional well-being through engaging recreational programs while also ensuring safe, supervised access to our designated smoking areas.
Responsibilities : Activities
Assist in planning and leading daily activities, group programs, one-on-one visits, and special events.
Encourage resident participation by offering motivation, companionship, and individualized support.
Transport residents to and from activities and help prepare activity spaces.
Document attendance and participation while adapting activities to meet residents’ unique needs.
Assist with calendars, newsletters, and community event planning.
Smoking Supervision
Escort and supervise residents to and from designated smoking areas at scheduled times.
Ensure compliance with facility policies, fire safety, and infection control.
Monitor residents to prevent unsafe behaviors and assist with lighting / extinguishing cigarettes.
Maintain cleanliness of the smoking area and dispose of ashtrays / waste properly.
Report concerns, hazards, or violations to nursing staff or administration.
General
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.
Maintain supplies and equipment in an organized, safe manner.
Follow all safety, infection control, and resident rights protocols.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in recreation, social services, or healthcare preferred.
Experience with older adults in healthcare or recreational settings preferred.
Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic personality with strong communication skills.
Must be able to tolerate outdoor environments and exposure to smoke.
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 lbs.
Flexible schedule with availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
