Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Activity Specialist for an organization dedicated to improving the well-being of individuals living with dementia and related conditions. This position is onsite in a supportive, community-driven environment on Long Island.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a compassionate and creative individual to lead therapeutic activities aimed at enhancing the physical, social, and emotional well-being of individuals living with dementia and Alzheimerâ?™s disease. In this role, you will use various modalities such as music, art, movement, and drama to engage participants in meaningful and stimulating experiences. You will also collaborate with community partners and professionals to expand the impact of these programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and facilitate therapeutic programs using creative modalities such as art, music, and movement.
  • Engage participants and their caregivers in meaningful activities that promote socialization and emotional well-being.
  • Coordinate community outreach efforts and build relationships with professionals in dementia care.
  • Monitor the success of programs through participant feedback and program evaluations.
  • Maintain a safe and organized therapeutic space, ensuring all materials are prepared and accessible.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in creating and leading therapeutic programs, particularly with older adults and those living with dementia.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) and virtual meeting platforms like Zoom.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Creative, compassionate, and adaptable approach to working with individuals in care settings.
  • COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Annual salary up to $68,000, plus comprehensive Benefits Package including health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Onsite work schedule â?? Monday-Friday, 9 am â?? 5 pm.
