Description and Requirements
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is responsible for assisting program development, performance management, knowledge management and practice management within nursing services. In addition, this job also demonstrates experience and expertise in clinical nursing and implements the role based on the needs of the patient, the nursing staff and the health care delivery system. The CNS will work collaboratively with clinical education and nursing leadership to improve the delivery of patient care through this specialist function.
Minimum Requirements : Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. MSN required. Current professional licensure as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the State of North Carolina. Board Certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist preferred or within 2 years of hire. At least three years of healthcare experience. Demonstrates excellent communication and management skills. Possess the ability to relate effectively to patients, their families, physicians, staff, and all others using proper channels of communication. Demonstrates outstanding skills in creative problem solving. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on a nursing unit(s). The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principal growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his / her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's / area's / department's policies and procedures
