Children’s Nebraska, with the University of Nebraska College of Medicine, is currently recruiting a Clinical Metabolic Geneticist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This candidate must be BE / BC in Pediatrics and Genetics with a clinical and research focus on inherited metabolic diseases. The candidate will join an active clinical team consisting of geneticists, metabolic dieticians, nurse practitioner and genetic counselors with a reputation for outstanding services.
The successful candidate is expected to develop a clinical and / or laboratory-based research program in inborn errors of metabolism, and will be supported by appropriate time and resources. The Child Health Research Institute was established in 2017 as a joint collaboration of Children’s Nebraska with the University of Nebraska Medical Center and aims to assist investigators with start-up funding and infrastructure for clinical, basic science or translational research. The Division of Inherited Metabolic Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics has laboratory expertise and equipment to carry out a range of biochemical and molecular studies. The University of Nebraska Medical Center provides outstanding laboratory resources for pursuing all types of research, along with collaborative opportunities for interacting with clinical and basic scientists. More than 30 core labs offer specialized expertise and research support services. Educational opportunities exist for clinicians to obtain post-graduate training and degrees in translational sciences.
Children’s Nebraska is the only full-service, pediatric health care center in Nebraska, providing expertise in more than 50 pediatric specialty services to children across a five-state region and beyond. Children’s is home to Nebraska’s only Level IV regional NICU, a Level IV Epilepsy Center, and the state’s only Level II Pediatric Trauma Center. Children’s is focused on extraordinary clinical care, education, translational research and advocacy and is embarking on transformational programmatic and physical growth. The new Hubbard Center for Children is home to an additional 100 patient beds, an expanded NICU, a dedicated Cardiac Care Unit, a new Cancer & Blood Disorders Unit, expanded surgical space, an expanded Radiology and Emergency Department and more.
