Job description

Vice President of Finance & Administration

The Vice President of Finance & Administration is a transformational finance leader who can operate at both ends of the spectrum architecting long-term financial strategy for a complex, multi-entity organization while also ensuring the fundamentals are executed flawlessly. This is not a role for someone who only thinks at the 30,000-foot level, nor for someone who only manages the details. We need both.

Reporting to the CFO, this role is responsible for fundamentally strengthening how EGNW's finance function works by standardizing and rebuilding financial processes to be scalable, auditable, and automation-ready. As the organization increasingly leverages AI and technology to streamline operations, this VP will be the architect of a finance infrastructure built for the future: clean, consistent processes; smart systems; and a team that spends less time on manual work and more time on meaningful insight.

EGNW operates across multiple legal entities and a growing, complex organizational structure. The VP must be capable of managing the financial complexity that comes with that intercompany accounting, entity-level reporting, consolidated financials, and the strategic thinking to understand how the structure itself can be optimized over time. At the same time, this person owns the day-to-day: the bills get paid, the books close on time, and develops the team's capabilities to support a growing and increasingly complex organization

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Financial Process Transformation & Automation

  • Lead a comprehensive assessment and redesign of EGNW's core financial processes including; accounts payable, accounts receivable, close, reporting, and reconciliation with the goal of standardizing workflows and eliminating manual, error-prone steps.
  • Partner with the Technology team to identify, evaluate, and implement AI and automation tools that streamline financial operations; serve as the finance function's champion for responsible technology adoption.
  • Build and enforce process documentation standards so that every financial workflow is clearly defined, repeatable, and ready to be automated or handed off without institutional knowledge dependency.
  • Drive continuous improvement across the finance function, measuring process efficiency and establishing benchmarks to track progress over time.
  • Ensure financial systems, ERP platforms, and reporting tools are optimized and integrated; evaluate new technologies and lead implementation efforts as needed.

Multi-Entity Financial Management

  • Oversee financial operations across all EGNW legal entities, ensuring accurate intercompany accounting, consolidated reporting, and entity-level transparency.
  • Develop and maintain financial frameworks that can flex as the organizational structure evolves including new entity formation, restructuring, or changes to operating models.
  • Ensure each entity meets its compliance obligations independently while contributing to a coherent, consolidated financial picture of the organization.
  • Collaborate with legal and leadership teams on the financial implications of structural decisions, modeling scenarios and providing clear recommendations.

Long-Term Financial Strategy

  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CFO on multi-year financial planning, capital strategy, reserve management, and long-range financial sustainability.
  • Develop forward-looking financial models that help leadership anticipate risks, evaluate opportunities, and make decisions grounded in data and financial reality.
  • Build and lead a financial planning and analysis capability that goes beyond historical reporting and produces insights that drive organizational strategy, not just track it.
  • Identify structural inefficiencies, revenue risks, and cost opportunities across the organization and develop concrete plans to address them.
  • Support the evaluation and due diligence of new business opportunities, partnerships, real estate transactions, and strategic investments.

Financial Operations & Controls

  • Own the day-to-day financial operations of the organization ensuring accounts payable, vendor payments, and cash management run smoothly, accurately, and on time.
  • Lead and develop the Director of Finance & Accounting and the broader finance and accounting team, building a high-performance culture grounded in accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness aligned with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Manage the annual operating budget process and ongoing budget monitoring, working across departments to build data-informed plans aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and financial policies that safeguard assets, ensure compliance, and reduce organizational risk.
  • Oversee grant and contract financial compliance, ensuring proper tracking, reporting, and stewardship of restricted and unrestricted funds.

Administration & Compliance

  • Oversee administrative functions as assigned by the CFO, which may include facilities, procurement, and vendor contract management.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, legal counsel, and government agencies to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance activities are completed accurately and on time.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with tax laws, nonprofit regulations, and reporting requirements, including IRS Form 990 and other filings.

Leadership & Culture

  • Model and reinforce EGNW's values of equity, inclusion, and mission-driven excellence in all aspects of team leadership and organizational behavior.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships, acting as a collaborative partner to People & Culture, Technology, Mission, Retail, and other departments.
  • Champion a culture of financial literacy, stewardship, and accountability across the organization making finance accessible and relevant to non-finance colleagues.
  • Step in to represent the CFO as needed in meetings, presentations, and internal stakeholder engagements.

Who We Are Looking For

You are a finance leader who is energized by change, not intimidated by it. You have walked into organizations where the processes were held together by spreadsheets and institutional knowledge, and you have left them with something better documented, standardized, and running on modern systems. You understand that the future of finance is automated, and you know how to get a team and an organization ready for it.

You think in systems and structures. Multi-entity complexity doesn't faze you you can hold the consolidated picture in your head while staying sharp on the details of each entity. You are equally comfortable building a five-year financial model and making sure the AP run went out on time. You don't see those as different jobs you see them as two ends of the same responsibility.

You are a builder and an operator. You set direction, earn trust quickly, communicate with clarity, and follow through. You believe that a well-run finance function is one of the most powerful tools a mission-driven organization has and you take that seriously.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree (MBA or MPA) or CPA designation strongly preferred.

Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership role managing teams and complex financial operations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading financial process redesign and standardization efforts including documentation, workflow redesign, and technology implementation.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted finance tools, automation platforms, or ERP modernization; proven ability to evaluate and adopt financial technology.
  • Experience managing finance across multiple legal entities, including intercompany accounting, consolidated reporting, and entity-level compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience in nonprofit finance, including fund accounting, restricted grants, and Form 990 reporting.
  • Experience in a large, multi-site retail or service organization with frontline employees, physical locations, and significant operational complexity.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop high-performing finance teams, including direct supervisory responsibility.
  • Strong command of GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and internal controls best practices.
  • Experience with multi-year financial planning, forecasting, and long-range scenario modeling in an organization of comparable scale ($50M+ budget preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional relationships and influence without authority.
  • High ethical standards, sound judgment, and professional discretion in handling sensitive financial and organizational information.
