  • Job Summary

    This is an Administration of Justice Studies residential faculty position in the Social Sciences Department scheduled to begin August 2025. The position requires curriculum development, instruction of at least five classes per semester (face to face, hybrid, online, or any combination thereof), and participation in various campus and district-wide committees and activities.

    Essential Functions

  • Instructs a diverse population of students in classroom and lab settings.
  • Develops written syllabi / course outlines and course materials; assesses student knowledge of subject matter and prepares and grades exams; maintains academic support hours to assist and advise students.
  • Engages in the academic life of the college by participating in district-wide and campus committees and activities.
  • Develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field and to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and / or workshops.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    The Occupational Teaching Fields require the following from an accredited college or university :

  • A Master's degree in the teaching field OR
  • A Master's degree in any field with 18 graduate credits in the teaching field OR
  • A Master's degree in any field with a combination of 24 upper division and / or graduate credits in the teaching field (Upper-division courses are Junior and Senior level courses in obtaining a Bachelor's degree) OR
  • A Bachelor's degree and three years of occupational experience in the field to be taught OR
  • Five years of occupational experience in the field to be taught OR
  • A Journeyman certification in the field to be taught
  • Desired Qualifications

    A. Masters degree in criminal justice or related field, such as Criminal Justice, Criminology, Legal Studies, Justice Studies, Public Safety Administration, Law and Policy, Police Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, Public Leadership, Disaster and Emergency Management, Homeland Security, related degrees in Sociology, and Criminal Psychology.

    B. At least four (4) years of teaching experience at the collegiate level and / or adult education / training.

    C. At least four (4) years of experience working in a professional criminal justice organization with an emphasis on law enforcement / corrections.

    D. Demonstrated experience using alternative teaching methods such as collaborative learning, problem-based learning, simulations, distance learning, or other non-lecture approaches to instruction.

    Special Working Conditions

    The successful candidate may be required to instruct at multiple sites, online, and / or assigned to teach days, evenings or weekends.
