ABOUT POMONA COLLEGE : Located near Los Angeles, California, Pomona College is widely regarded as one of the nation's premier liberal arts colleges. JOB PURPOSE : The Assistant Dean of Admissions assists with the coordination of various Admissions programs, including campus events, off-campus programs and college counselor outreach. This individual will also travel and manage a recruitment territory, including international areas, and advise students interested in Pomona on issues related to admissions, student life and financial aid. The Assistant Dean will be responsible for communicating the value of a liberal arts education to a diverse, international audience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Reporting directly to the Senior Associate Dean of Admissions, the Assistant Dean of Admissions will perform the following essential duties and responsibilities :
Perform recruitment and admission functions for a designated international and domestic territory :
- Travel to designated foreign countries to recruit qualified international students.
- Travel to designated domestic territories to visit high schools, community-based organizations and college fairs.
- Send and respond to inquiries and correspondence about the admissions process in a timely manner.
- Advise students with the application process.
- Read and evaluate applicant admission materials.
- Serve as the College liaison to students, their parents and the communities in their assigned territory.
- Engage California's community college network to recruit prospective transfer applicants.
Collaborate with the Office of Financial Aid to counsel families and students on the admissions and financial aid processes.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators within The Claremont Colleges to further college objectives.
Coordinate special projects / tasks and provide assistance as assigned.
Other responsibilities will be assigned based on the experiences and interests of the individual.
QUALIFICATIONS :
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND CRITICAL SKILLS :
Deploy professional skills in admissions and enrollment in order to achieve the College's strategic interests.
Demonstrated effectiveness and clarity of verbal and written communication with excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills to supervise, facilitate, motivate, mentor and inspire a diverse group of employees, volunteers and stakeholders from a wide variety of backgrounds. Must handle all activities and highly confidential information with patience, discretion, tact, and a keen eye for detail.
Able to operate computers with basic Microsoft Office software (such as Word, Excel, Outlook) and demonstrated understanding of the use of technology in assessing applications. Experience using Technolutions Slate is highly desirable.
Able to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work both independently and as a collaborative member of the College in support of the College's strategic vision and the division's annual goals with the highest standards of integrity and ethics.
Must understand and communicate the mission and history of the College's liberal arts environment.
Must have exceptional organizational and time management skills, as well the ability to exercise good judgment and complete work with accuracy and attention to detail.
An excellent sense of humor, the ability to be open-minded, flexible, and contribute to a dynamic work environment full of creative, hardworking colleagues is strongly desired.
An ability to work with diverse populations, an interest and curiosity in other people, places, cultures, and ways of understanding the world.

REQUIRED HOURS : The regular hours for this full-time position are 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m., Monday - Friday. Holiday, weekend and evening work hours will be required. Travel will be required to visit assigned national and international territory and other areas as needed. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.

ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS :
The rate for this role is between $68,640 - $82,727 with a competitive benefits package. The specific factors that the College will consider when offering a salary to an individual will include, but not be limited to : education, training, relevant prior experience, and performance in prior roles. All staff positions are ineligible for visa or permanent resident card sponsorship. As a California employer, Pomona College requires all employees to be residents of California.
