The Adult Basic Education instructor works with youth and adults to help students earn their high school diploma and assist them with achieving their life goals. ACYR's instructors use standards-based and trauma informed instruction to guide students toward post-secondary education and career pathways.

Adult Basic Education instructors must be able to work with students both face-to-face and virtually, adapt classes to classroom / student needs, and work as a team with other ACYR staff to benefit student outcomes.

The ACYR team builds pathways to success through education, skill building and employment opportunities to help youth and young adult s reach self-sufficiency. The team plays a crucial role in promoting a culture of inclusion, positivity, growth mindset , and hospitality by offering high-energy educational activities and services that create a welcoming environment. Every member of the team is charged to build trusting relationships with youth and adults to maintain continued support in pursing their educational and occupational goals. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (required)
• Experience teaching / working with youth and adult learners is a must.
• Knowledge of adult student characteristics and adult basic education content areas.
• Ability to instruct students in the use of basic technology and applications to integrate into instruction.
• Experience working with at opportunity youth and adults at a nonprofit organization, in an educational setting or classroom preferred.
• Bi-lingual / Bi-cultural preferred.
• Strong communications skills are critical, both verbally and in writing.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to commit to teamwork and establish effective working relationships.
• Demonstrate interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships.
• Willingness to consistently display a positive attitude and image of the agency, as well as provide high quality, effective customer service in all facets of communication.
• Must consistently engage in professional and personal development.

Key Result Areas

Background Check

Background check will consist of reference checks, employment, education, and criminal background search.

ACYR is an at-will employer and any offer of employment with ACYR is contingent upon a successful completion of said background check.

Certification / Licenses / Other Requirements

Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. Valid Arizona Driver's License. Requires use of insured personal vehicle for agency business.

Physical Demands

Requires energetic interactions between the ACYR team members and students. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly. Ability to interact with students during activities also required.
