Agriculture Field Technician I

Gradient Crop Yield Solutions is an agriculture technology business (a subsidiary of The Morning Star Company). Through the implementation of high-quality sensor technology, Gradient offers growers a platform to assist them to improve profitability of their agriculture operations. Irrigation monitoring services offered by Gradient include daily soil moisture, evapotranspiration, plant water stress index and high-definition satellite crop imagery. Gradient colleagues take pride in delivering first class customer service by assisting growers in their decision-making process to achieve better yields.

This position has the potential to become a full-time role.

The Mission and Position :

This Colleague’s Mission is, “to cooperate with growers, leveraging Gradient technology, to achieve the best crop yield and quality possible, while utilizing resources to their maximum efficiency and providing world-class customer service”

Specific activities will include at least the following :

  • Assist in the precise installation and removal of sensor equipment in the field.
  • Closely monitor daily data and timely inform lead tech and growers of any possible in field issues.
  • Repair damaged sensors in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a high-level communication and service by enhancing valued grower relations.
  • Participate in business development opportunities / events.
  • Collaborate in research and development activities if required.

Qualifications :

  • Must have high initiative, and be able to work independently, in alignment with our system of Mission Focused Self-Management™.
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record required (Ability to drive company vehicle).
  • Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, longer during season.
  • Ability to work outdoors in hot weather conditions.
  • Ability to use a computer proficiently.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Agriculture related field preferred but not required.
  • Some hands-on experience in agriculture is preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of soils and irrigation is a plus.
  • 1 - 2 years work experience.
  • Compensation :

    Comprehensive training offered in irrigation monitoring and soils. Starting wage will be $19-$24 per hour, in line with qualifications.
