Monday-Friday 8 : 00 am- 4 : 00 pm. Competitive wages and benefit packages available. Primary Job Responsibilities : The Lead teacher is responsible for a Head Start classroom of 3- to 5-year-old children providing a positive and appropriate educational experience that meets the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs of the children within their care. This position works collaboratively with an assistant teacher, family members and other staff to achieve positive outcomes for children of all abilities. This position is a full time / year round position.
Essential Duties :
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Provide emotional support through establishing a positive climate, being aware of and responsive to children, and encouraging child expression and autonomy.
- Use strategies for behavior management, such as clear behavior expectations, being proactive and redirecting misbehavior.
- Foster classroom productivity and maximize learning time, while engaging children with a variety of modalities and materials
- Provide instructional support through concept development, fostering children’s analysis and reasoning, engaging in feedback loops, and modeling and supporting high-quality language. Requirements / Qualifications : The Head Start Lead Teacher works to ensure the program's goals, services and resources are designed to foster stable family relationships, enhance children’s physical and emotional well-being, and establish an environment to develop strong cognitive skills. The transition from preschool to kindergarten imposes diverse developmental challenges that include requiring the children to engage successfully with their peers outside of the family network, adjust to the space of a classroom, and meet the expectations the school setting provides within the programming of the Head Start Performance Standards. High quality classroom programming must include a triangulated framework of family-centered practices; developmentally, individually, and culturally appropriate practices and intentional teaching; and program support.
